Rancho de Caldera Activities
There are a variety of enjoyable activities here at Rancho de Caldera including horseback riding, hiking, birding, cloud watching (yes, you read that correctly), lounging by the pool, swimming, massages, and experiencing the creative international cuisine at our restaurant, Madre Tierra. If you'd like to get out and explore Chiriqui, try these Boquete area activities.
Horse Back Riding
There are 8 horses at Rancho de Caldera, all of which are ready and willing to take guests to the local hot springs, the petroglyphs or just on a tour of the area. For experienced equestrians, weekly horse "rentals" are available. For more information, please contact us.
Birding
At Rancho de Caldera there are many, many types of birds for the bird-watching enthusiast; the type and variety are somewhat different than those in Boquete due to the lower elevation. Binoculars are a must for serious bird watchers!
Hiking
Sombra and Nita (our two yellow labs) are available to guide guests to the waterfall or the property high point, where the views are even more spectacular (only because the views are 360 degrees, rather than the 320 degree views at the pool area). No charge for the guided tours with the dogs, though they wouldn't turn down a little snack...
Massage
Guests can arrange for onsite massages in advance. A couple of excellent, trained massage therapists live close by and provide massages in the cabins, or out on the porches.
Cloud Watching
"Activities" would not be complete without a few words on "cloud watching". The views change constantly here, especially in the rainy season; clouds move in and out, up and down, fill the skies with rain and/or completely hide the mountains and Rancho de Caldera. At sunrise and sunset, the clouds turn many shades of orange and pink. We highly recommend sitting on the porch and watching the weather - it is a glorious way to spend a few hours!
