Green Globe Certification
We are pleased that Rancho de Caldera has achieved its Green Globe Certification in 2009. To certify our sustainability and green management, we must adhere to a majority of the many criteria included in the Green Globe Standard – which is based on internationally accepted and recognized documentation.
On its website, Green Globe states:
“Green Globe is the leading green certification for the travel and tourism industry and its supply chain worldwide. Only businesses awarded the Green Globe seal can claim to be independently recognized as sustainable.
Our objective is to introduce and strengthen sustainability and social practices at all levels of management.
Green Globe Certification is an efficient and paperless process, verified by accredited third-party auditors and fully compliant with ISO/IEC 17021.”
Some of the criteria that Rancho de Caldera meets include:
- Recycling
- Composting and Food Donation Program
- Use of Green, Bio-Degradable Cleaning Products
- Hiring and Training of Local Residents
- Environmentally-Friendly supplies used whenever possible and available
- Use of indigenous plants as natural insecticides in fruit orchard
- Salt system in pool
- Lo-Flush Toilets
- Towel and Linen Reuse Program in Place
- Renewable Energy Sources Used (Hydro-Electric, Solar and Wind; Totally Off the Grid )
- Energy Efficient Lighting
- High Efficiency (EnergyStar) Equipment and Appliances
- Roof-top Garden above Restaurant
- Home Grown Food or Locally Purchased Whenever Possible
