Property Overview
Rancho de Caldera is an extraordinary eco-resort located in the mountains of Chiriqui, Panama. Despite the fact that the resort is completely off the grid (using a combination of hydro-electric power, wind power and solar power), the 9 well-appointed villas boast such amenities as air conditioning, wireless Internet, iPod docking stations, satellite TV and small kitchenettes. All 9 villas have large, covered porches for bird and nature watching, as well as afternoon siestas... Each of the villas has a 20' wall of glass, which allows for the enjoyment of spectacular sunrises from the comfort of bed. For those with more limited budgets, there are 2 discount rooms in the main house.
Facilities include an infinity edge pool, with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains, a conference room with audio/video equipment, and hiking trails. Horseback riding is available to our guests on any of our 8 horses.
Madre Tierra is our onsite restaurant, featuring Chef Craig Miller, who prepares creative, ethnic food daily, utilizing home or locally grown ingredients whenever possible. The restaurant offers a variety of outstanding, healthy drinks, such as the lime/basil fizz and the passionfruit Julius, in addition to wine and a locally brewed beer.
In the next several years, Rancho de Caldera will focus on increasing self-sustainability with the continued expansion of the fruit orchards and vegetable gardens.
