Sober Vacations

In an effort to create a healthy, natural environment at Rancho de Caldera, we have adopted an alcohol (and soda) free environment in all public areas, including our restaurant Madre Tierra. We believe that it is easier to fully appreciate our very real connections to nature without the excessive use of artificial stimulants. We have found that the atmosphere at Rancho de Caldera is lighter and more carefree since the implementation of this policy.

With the understanding that some guests enjoy consuming wine or cocktails around a meal, we encourage these guests to drink in the privacy of their cabins - the covered porches provide a nice spot for this.

We are excited about the atmosphere that the alcohol-free policy helps create at Rancho de Caldera. We hope to promote laughter, joy and fellowship here, and believe that celebrating the natural environment, in all regards, is conducive to this.

Craig Miller, our chef at Madre Tierra, has created an assortment of delicious non-alcoholic drinks that are both exciting and unique. Craig changes the selection as the availability of fruits and local ingredients change. It seems that every time he eliminates one fabulous drink, he creates an even tastier new one!

At this time, a few of the drinks on the menu include:

  • Thai Citrus Sparkler - fresh squeezed orange and lime juice, honey, a pinch of cayenne, and Perrier
  • Basil & Lime Fizz - fresh basil and lime juice blended with simple syrup, poured over ice and toped with sparkling water
  • Passionfruit Julius - passionfruit blended with milk, vanilla, honey and ice

The alcohol restriction can be waived for groups who rent out the entire facility. Please inquire for more information.
